The Wilderness Leadership School was the first non profit organisation in Africa dedicated to providing a pure wilderness experience for people of all backgrounds, races and nationalities. It was founded in 1957 by the legendary Dr. Ian Player who, together with his friend and mentor Magqubu Ntombela, recognised the necessity for people to connect with the environment.

At the core of the school’s program’s is a unique experience called Wilderness Trail, which aims to develop strong leadership for positive environmental change. Such a 5-day trail on foot is featured in our documentary, but here you can see Cherryl Curry explain more in-depth what a wilderness trail is all about.
